Weizhou Island

The idyllic location of Weizhou Island is situated 21 miles south of Beibu Bay of Beihai City Guangxi Province. This truly amazing Island is the biggest and youngest volcanic Island in the Beibu Gulf area, and has been rated as the 2nd most beautiful Island in China.

Weizhou Island is rich in lush green vegetation, stunning scenery and breathtaking views. The Island is populated by approximately 15,300 habitants and is relatively unspoiled by development, which makes it the perfect setting for recreating a new fully integrated paradise.

The southern part of Weizhou Island presents many examples of volcanic topography. These include, walls and terraces formed by rocks and molten which where compressed in the volcanic eruptions, beautiful and colourful sights of marine eroded caverns, hills and pillars, all of theses features together create an ocean wonderland. 

The Northern part of the island is lower and flatter with sand dikes, beaches and rocks. On the seabed fabulously attractive corals can be found in all colours, shapes and sizes and this feature has been given the name “The penglai fairy Island, of the south China sea”.

Weizhou Island is dense in vegetation, beautiful landscapes, simple, honest people and a wide variety of sea life. The island is also a migrating place for many species of birds, who flock here in their thousand every year to enjoy the mountainous caverns and forest areas.

The most popular time of year to visit Weizhou Island in during the months of June, July and August. This is when the air is warm and the sun shines all day long showing the spectacular views of the Island. The sea is warm and there are many different types of sea life that also come to visit during these summer months.

The diving  experience will take you into the magical depths of the colourful underwater landscape.  You will have the opportunity to swim with all kinds of sea life and view the beautiful arrangements of the corals, creatures and sea plants.The clear blue sea gives for exceptional viewing and has made diving the most popular sport on the island.

There are many wonderful sceneries to be viewed, from the ledges and caverns of the rock faces, to the ancients volcano’s that lie on the Island. No one can fail to be amazed at the many spectacular views of the island which is known as a sightseers paradise.

Apart from the stunning scenery that the island has to offer, Weizhou Island is also home to the Gothic Catholic Church and the Mazhu Temple, where people come to pay their respects to the lord and appreciate the architectural structure of these buildings.

Transportation to Weizhou Island is from Beihai City. You can board a ferry at Beihai International Dock and travel over to Weizhou Island in approximately 70 minutes.
